Is this website an official shortcut for Stack Overflow or any of its associated networks?
No. This website is an independent tool created solely for convenience.
Is this website affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Stack Overflow?
No. This website is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Stack Overflow or any of its associated networks.
Why was this website created?
I often found it frustrating to type long URLs and check whether an official short URL existed. Since there wasn’t a reliable solution, I created this site to make link shortening simple, safe, and predictable. All links generated here point only to approved Stack Overflow network domains and their subdomains.
What happens if a link does not go to Stack Overflow?
If you encounter a link that doesn’t lead to any Stack Overflow network site, please report it immediately so it can be removed.
Why can't I create a custom short URL, like so.br.gy/abcmouse?
This site supports multiple Stack Overflow domains and subdomains. Due to the large number of domains, allowing fully custom URLs would complicate management and safety. Instead, we use a standardized format to ensure reliability.
Why do shortened URLs look like this: so.br.gy/gen123456?
The letters in the URL indicate the category of the post. For example:
GEN → GenAI Stack Exchange
The numbers represent the post ID.
What do the letters in the URL represent?

Can I see where a short link points before visiting it?
Yes! By adding a + at the end of any short URL (e.g., so.br.gy/gen123456+), you can view:
Do I need to always come to "so.br.gy" and paste the URL or do you have an easier way?
You can always come back to this site and paste the URL if you want to do that; however you can drag "The So.br.gy Shortcut" to your browser's toolbar and always be able to generate a short URL.
